I agree with Charlotte Walker (2007) but my norovirus appeared 48 hours after getting home. If you like repetetive bland food and awful alcohol this is for you, if not, stay away. Pools are freezing, (bar one which is inevitably filled with small children). Rooms are kept very clean but I would say this was 3 and 1/2 star at the most. The grounds are very nice and kept very clean and tidy. My best description of the atmosphere/surroundings is that of 'Benidorm' (tv series and Chessington world of adventures without the rides). Notwithsanding the water slides they have. You have to queue up (the previous day) for individual restaurants and the food in these is distinctly average as well. Do not attempt to buy any imported wine locally as it will cost a fortune. Egypt generally is filthy and basic. Naama Bay shopkeepers and restaurant staff have 'hassle factor' off to a fine art. Needless to say I wont be returning to Egypt!

Upon arrival you are greeted with a glass of orange and then you check in which in itself is a bit of a farce. At face value you think wow the lobby looks amazing so does the hotel. After a long travelling day a hotel porter dragged me and my partner and our other guests around to take us to our room. We were not allowed to leave him and after 15 minutes we were getting annoyed. The first night we were so tired we stayed in. The first day was the usual you would expect, food was quite nice in the buffet restaurant and plenty of choice (believe me this gets old by the second day!) Our room was adequate and was spotless. As you sat by the pool the staff is constantly cleaning. FOOD: Boring and repetitive buffet that grew tiresome by the 3rd day! The restaurants were good however the popular ones got booked up quickly. I got food poisoning by the third day and spent my holiday and birthday doubled up with cramps and diarrhoea. I was not the only one and I am still not right 3 weeks later!! Entertainment: Oh my God this was dire for an all inclusive hotel! At night there were two cabaret singers who performed every night the same songs in the same order no joke! In the day there was the animation team who also did the same thing everyday in the same order. Truly awful there was nothing to do. Very, very boring the TV was good in the room though stay in and watch that instead! General Hotel: Face value stunning and spotless however as you lay by the pool you get pestered by hotel staff for "manicures, pedicures, haircuts, massage" in one hour one day we had been asked 3 times. We didnít come on holiday to get pestered like this in our hotel. Some staff could hardly speak English which is not their fault but their employers, I felt for them really. You barely finish or sometimes even finish your drink and the pool staff takes it away the same goes for the restaurant with plates, etc. The place was full of rude Russians and good luck in finding a sunbed! Staff expects a tip for everything in fact all the Egyptians do so bear this in mind. Al in all this was the worst holiday ever and I do not recommend it at all! We were so bored at one point we decided to tackle Naarma Bay and found the bus dropped you off a good walk away. We got harassed by taxi man after taxi man. When we reached the street it was alike a cattle market. Constant pestering, truly awful! A weekend in Blackpool when it's raining is much better. And as for Cosmos, we had no tour rep English or otherwise on site for us to talk to which was disgusting and I have known this ever before. When we got picked up the day we were leaving a fellow Cosmos customer told the tour rep on the bus about the bad holiday they had and the food issue and all they got was "well you're not dead are you" and laughed at - truly disgusting! To save hassle, don't go to Egypt!

This was our second time back to Egypt and this time we stayed in Sharm, the Grand Azure is a good standard 4* hotel on an all inclusive basis, food was to a very high standard and was always fresh and varied, the only downside was that it could get quite crowded in the evening and you would have to queue for your dinner,we just ended up eating at a later time to get round that. Pool area was beautiful and really looked after by the many staff, rooms were a really high standard, hotel is 6km away from the main centre of Nama bay where youve got traditional cafes to the Hard rock hotel, everything is very cheap, cant go wrong!
