Great for couples, not so good for kids! - Suzanne Plimmer. Date of travel: Jun 2007

We've just returned from Gouvia and the holiday itself was absolutely fantastic. If you were going as a couple I would say it couldn't get any better, the rooms are lovely and clean, the maid service is exceptional and the hotel itself stands in beautiful grounds. But, and this is a massive but, if you are taking the kids, this is not the place to go. For some reason, the management have decided this year that there is to be no fun at all for them. Balls and lilo's are banned in the pool and they can't walk across the grass. They have to stick to the perfectly formed walkways or the gestapo come out! I mean it - we asked what the problem was and were told there was no problem, only rules! Watch out for the 'lifeguard' who never gets off her butt but has a whistle around her neck that terrifies all in her domain. Get ready for 5 o'clock though because the shutters on the bar come down, the lifeguard disappears - and your holiday fun starts. Balls and lilo's galore in the pool as the atmosphere raises to a normal holiday environment. Everyday, our kids and their mates couldn't wait for 'happy hour' as they called it. You can only lie on a white sunbed around the pool and a blue one in the garden. Maybe they need to lighten up just a bit - unless you like your holiday in a concentration camp. Where else do you know where the poolside bar shuts just when you need a drink at tea-time? The beach advertised in the brochure is at the bottom of the garden as stated, but they forgot to mention it is only ten foot wide. For a really fabulous meal go to the Nine Muses which is superb value for money. Don't go to the Pizza Place down a little alleyway because they say they do half price portions for kids then conveniently forget they ever said it. Do go to Aqualand - it is magic and don't forget this is only our opinion. We are, however, seasoned travellers and everything I'm saying is completely honest. I wish you luck if you are taking your children to Govino Bay - where the fun never starts!

The apartments are spacious and clean and set in superb gardens. Large clean swimming pool with fenced off area for young ones. Staff are very friendly and as the apartments are set just outside the main village they are quiet but not remote. Really recommend, we have booked again for next year.
I loved the Govina Bay Apartments - Helen Pomfrett. Date of travel: Jun 2006
I hadn't been to Corfu before and I was quite impressed with the Govino Bay Apartments. It was a wonderful time for the whole family, good weather, wonderful food and a good atmosphere in the bars and pub. Irish Knights was particularly good fun with good crowds.
