Have just returned from a great week staying at the Matina apartments in Pefkos. staff were absolutely fantastic, in a lovely position in the village with great views. Rooms were perfectly adequate for self catering and always plenty going on both during the day and at night. Could not fault the hotel or the village, will certainly be going back. The weather was very hot and sunny for the whole week as well.

We have been going to Pefkos for twenty years, stayed in lots of places but we find the Matina Aparthotel fantastic, three mins walk to beach. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean, and there is good entertainment in the evenings at the bar. We have left it too late this year to get in, so we are trying the Stella Apartment. This will make a good walk up and down bank to see our mate Yanni at Kelari Bar where everybody has a brill time.

I went to Pefkos with a friend, for two weeks in September 2007. We stayed at the Matina Aparthotel. The Matina is, quite frankly, the best apartment complex I have ever come across in Greece. We were in a studio, which had 3 single beds. The beds were not particularly comfortable, they were very hard, but we got by. There was a large wardrobe with plenty of coat-hangers, adequate drawer space for two women, a fridge with icebox, cooker with a couple of rings, plenty of crockery and cutlery and even things like a chopping board and a colander. There was a hairdryer, tv and phone in the bedroom part as well. The bathroom had a large sink with plug and counter space, toilet, and a bath with overbath shower and shower curtain. None of your usual wetfloor shower with no curtain. The only things missing were hooks on the bathroom door for hanging up towels/bathrobes etc, and shutters. The large patio doors (we were on the ground floor) had no shutters so at night it was windows open (security risk) or windows shut (too hot). The maid came in every day except Sundays, the towels and linen were changed twice a week and she left our sheets and nightwear shaped into - well, shapes- bows, ships etc, which was a lovely touch. The apartment was spotless. There were ants, but that's just par for the course in Greece and the maid left ant spray. One day we saw a cockroach, but only one and it was dealt with promptly. One day the toilet flush broke, we reported it on our way to the beach in the morning and it was fixed when we got back in the evening. We didn't bother with aircon - I find the noise harder to sleep through than the heat, but we did use the safety deposit boxes. They're located in reception and I can't remember how much it cost - but it wasn't excessive. There are also computers in reception with internet access, €1 for 15 minutes. The pool was large and seemed clean and the poolside area seemed clean and in good repair, but we didn't use it at all - we went to the beach instead. The beach is about a 30 second walk from the Matina - couldn't be handier. Loungers and parasols are available at the beach for €8 per day. The beach was clean and sandy with a little shingle and the sea was ideal for swimmers and paddlers but not so good for tiny children - the shore shelves quite steeply at first so small children would need to be supervised quite closely. The Matina offers lots of entertainment - party nights, barbecue, karaoke etc. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than spend my holiday around the pool participating in group entertainment, but the people who did go were saying they enjoyed it.

I've been to Rhodes for 4 years now and have always stayed in the Matina. It's defo the best hotel in Pefkos, the beach is about a 30 second walk and is lovely. The staff are very friendly and I made loads of friends in the bars there. The best bar is the eclipse if you're thinkin about going you have to try it. I spent every night in there and the staff are lovely. I'll be back next year.

Love Matina Apartments
Matina Apartments is an amazing place to go, I'm a 14 year old girl and my family and I have been on a holiday there twice. Each time has been truly amazing and I loved it. It's prefect for families and teens. Wouldn't really suggest older couples to go in the main season as it's full of teens and families with children. Going again in May so I'm very excited! The accomadation was gorgeous. We had a lovely sea veiw from our apartment and we watched the sunset most nights , it was beautiful to see. The apartment itself was lovely , we had a one bedroomed apartment , it had a tv with decent channels , sofas wich could be used for beds ( well mine was anyway) and a nice bathroom and kitchenette. We didnt really use the apartment for much , just sleeping and washing in.

Best thing about the Matina Apartments was the location... 5 mins from beach, 5 mins into resort. Quiet at night. Lots of better pool bars serving food within 2 mins walk. Entertainment typical, bingo, karaoke, quizzes. Food poor quality, burnt burgers, didn't eat there twice. Studio okay, good bathroom, big balcony. Pool - impossible to get beds unless you are up at 7 or 8 in the morning, most 'reserved' by then despite the signs telling you not to.(I thought the Germans were bad, not any more - the Brits have invaded!) Always beds at the beach though if you're like me and having a holiday means having a lie-in, you sad people!

We loved the Matina, friendly, helpful staff, clean, well equipped apartments, in fact the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. The location is superb. Entertainment every evening, and would recommend to everyone. It's just a shame we only had two weeks there could have stayed forever. We loved it, we will return.

It was our first holiday in Rhodes and what a hotel to stay at for your first time in the resort. Matina aparthotel was the best, very friendly staff who would help you with anything, the rooms were spotless, they were cleaned every day and they even folded your night clothes in a fan or something! The pool was clean as it was cleaned every day. The food around the snack bar was nice too we were eating there each day for reasonable prices I think we paid 1 euro for a plate of chips. My children loved the kids club they said it was the best thing they had ever done on holiday they have even got the kids reps email address (Jiggy Jenny was great). I recommend you to go to the Greek night at Matina Aparthotel - it is great fun. The resort of Rhodes is fab too there is lots to do, I would recommend any family to go to Matina Aparthotel for their next holiday. Honest it was great!!! Tour Operator: Direct Holidays

The Matina Apartments were lovely with brilliant views of the sea and surrounding coastline. Fabulous pool, the area superb and 30 seconds from the beach. Friendly staff at the bar/food area. Lots of bars and wonderful restaurants and shops. The people were lovely and we had such a fab time. Going again this year even though money is tight. Can't wait. Fantastic for trips out etc. Wonderful scenery.

This was our first visit to Rhodes. We stayed at the Matina. We found our welcome friendly and they could not do enough for us. We are a family of 4 and we stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment. The accomodation was spotless. We have a bathroom with shower curtain, a real bonus in Greek apartments. A compact but well fitted out kitchen area. With microwave, kettle, toaster fridge etc. Sat TV plus mosquito devices in living area and bedroom. Bring your own refills though. Air con was extra at about 40 EU a week. Safetly dep boxes in reception about 15 EU a week. Good efficient maid service. The pool area was clean and free from hazards. Pool bar served typical fast food snacks reasonably priced. Beer cold and reasonably priced 2.80 EU a pint. Kids clubs were well organised and kept the kids entertained when we wanted a qiuiet meal. The real bonus of the apartments was its location. On leaving the apartments you turn left and about 25 m down a small incline you reach the beach, and what a beach. It gently shelves into the sea safe for kids. The water was bath warm. With small fish that could be fed. Sun loungers about 8 EU a day for 2 + umbrella. Resort itself relatively small. Plentiful bars and restaurants, supermakets. All in all a friendly warm place not really suited to large 18-30 single sex groups but mostly for families and those wanting a relatively relaxing holiday. I'm sure anyone going will have a brill time and we shall be returning 2005. Tour Operator: Direct Holidays
