Went to the Playa Flamingo Apartments for 2 weeks in May and loved it. The apartments were a nice size and were kept really clean with towel changes every other day. The pool was freezing as my 10-year-old found out! The beach was a 5 min walk away and the safest beach I have been to for children, as there aren't any waves. My 3-year-old was in his element. We didn't use the kids club but they were always busy having fun when we passed them. The on-site shop was a little expensive but so convenient. We used it a lot. The main restaurants were a short walk away. My 3-year-old managed it so who am I to complain! The walk is lovely though and the restaurants served a wide variety of taste at reasonable prices. It is a very quiet part of Lanzarote, but that is what we wanted. If you're looking for an action packed holiday with night clubs, etc, Playa Blanca isn't for you. We did take the ferry over to Fuerteventura. This was quite expensive - around 80 for 2 adults and 3 children, lovely beaches and great shopping!! All in all we had a great holiday and would recommended it to anyone who wants a quiet, relaxing holiday and it's great for young children. Dont forget to take bread with you to the beach as the fish will eat it out of your hand, dont buy a net as they are now too wise, but a clear plastic sandwich bag works a treat. Have a great holiday as we did!!!!!

This is the fourth Superfamilies holiday we have enjoyed. We flew out on the 7th july 06 and had a brilliant two weeks. The knack of enjoying Superfamilies is to join in all the fun that the hard working Thompson staff supply. All the staff at the Playa Flamingo were very friendly. The maid service superb and i only hope the waiters do their kareoke when you are there. Look out for the Swedish staff also who put on superb shows. I would reccomend the Mexican restaurant and also La Cuadra steak house, both in the town. The pizza place, Bambola and the restaurant with the Bouncy Castle, International Grill(both near the hotel) where the meals were superb and the staff loved the kids. The only down side was the rush at 0830hrs for the sunbeds. Sad really, that people can get up at that time to put towels on a piece of plastic. Most didnt use them till 1230, so put their towels in the bins provided. All in all a brilliant holiday and thanks to Rob the rep boss and his Thompson team, Rachel, Tweetie, Sarah, and the kids reps. Also thanks to Peter from the pool (look out for his microwave dance) and the other Scandinavian entertainers. I only wish I was still there and would highly reccommend this idyllic setting. The town is a ten minute walk and has a lot to offer. We went on the organised trip to the waterpark on Fuerteventura. We also hired a car and went to Timanfaya park(volcano) and then to Papagayo beach. The driving is easy and the trips fantastic. Go now and enjoy an altogether amazing time that we have experienced. Fantastic resort - David Higgins. Date of travel: Oct 2005
Playa Blanca is a fantastic resort, especially if with young children - ours were 3 & 6. The apartments are directly opposite a very safe man made lagoon and although it can be a bit of a walk into town for the children ours managed it. Lots of good value restaurants in the town serving a wide variety of food and generally offering good value. Cannot recommend resort highly enough. Tour Operator: Thomson

Accomodation...fair, no air con in rooms, just a fan in bedroom. Nothing in kitchen/lounge. In this type of climate air con is a must! Maid cleaning service left a lot to be desired. Mattress on one bed had to be changed as it had no support. If you like a nice quiet relaxing day on the beach forget it...its like being in a school playground, kids galore. As for the pool, great if you want to listen to a bawling rep trying to get people into games in the pool, but not if you want to switch off and chill. Last but not least a word about the worlds most cheap & cheerful airline, Thompson/Brittania. We get to airport to be told that our flight to Gatwick is delayed by nearly an hour, all other flights by this airline are on time. Once inside the departure lounge you are left with nobody to contact about the delay. One hour ten minutes late we depart, reason given by crew for lateness....French air traffic control, strange we all thought, how come the other Thompson/Brittania flights escaped this as they all arrived within ten minutes of each other having all flown over France! Then the final memory of a holiday. Landing at Gatwick 1hr 10 mins late and then to sit for 1hour and twenty mins wating to be told which baggage belt our luggage would be on, while flights arrived after ours had their luggage on the belt in 20mins, us poor tired fed up idiots were left in total ignorance of why our luggage was not unloaded. Finally an hour and ten mins after landing we were told by the tannoy to be patient and our luggage would be with us soon, then came the gobsmacking announcement that our luggage was only now going to be unloaded from the plane. As usual no reps from the company were to be seen. Subseqently our taxi charged us a waiting time fee. Never again will I stand by and let people complain about Easyjet; they are the Rollsroyce of budget airlines compared to Thompson/Brittania, who`s motto must be "any problems hide all the staff, cos we've had their money and they've had their hoilday". Playa Flamingo apartments are within easy distance of the beach. The rooms are clean and well equipped and there are 3 restaurants on site. A large swimming pool. A big complex with about 300 rooms. A good position but a bit too big and brash for us. Nevertheless we enjoyed it here. Tour Operator: Thomsons
