Esmeralda Playa - Tenerife - Huckle/Booth. Date of travel: Jul 2010
Just got back and had a good holiday all round. Hotel reception and pool area was good, clean and tidy and no charge for loungers or parasols as in apartments. Bedrooms look very tired and could do with a freshen up and air con was not great so a bit warm. Bathrooms were clean, towels bright white and showers vigorous and hot. Food was plentiful and generally a good variety each day/night. Could be kept hotter though. One point to note is that it is not in Playa de las Americas but Costa Adeje so not for those looking for a lively night life. Good location and great beaches very near by. Staff were ok but seemed to work long hours so were not bubbly but always greeted us. All inclusive meant a few tipsy people round pool on occasions but no rowdy behaviour. Although signs request that you do not reserve loungers/parasols round the pool this happens. I am sure it will be even more of a problem in school hols. Great hotel for families as some rooms interconnect.

Hotel Esmerelda Playa - Angela. Date of travel: Jul 2007
This Hotel was in my opion not a 4 star hotel as advertised. The premises are drab and in need of a revamp. The standard of food wasn't too bad but was very repetitive. The staff were unfriendly as if they were bored with the customers who keep them in business. Around the pool was splashed with weeds growing between the patio stone. There was no kids clubs after being told that there would be, there was what they called hotel entertainment, at the poolside, which involved adults which kids could join-in. It involved ego-tripping men all the time never giving any children a chance to win anything. The Mytravel rep kept insisting there was a kids club but eventually agreed with us there wasn't one stating the area it should be held in was too hot! The toilet light was never fixed despite repeated requests and we had to go in the dark. Sorry Tenerife we won't be back on your island, ever.

Esmeralda Playa - Kerry and Dean Tranter. Date of travel: Feb 2005
Just come back from Esmeralda Playa Hotel, we have been there before and was a fantasic hotel however this time round the service at the hotel and food was awful, the lifts were dangerous the doors kept shutting on everybody; twice I got my arm stuck. The food was always cold never enough plates or cutlery. Overall the hotel could do with a revamp especially the rooms there were very dated and tatty. The resort is brill for shops, bars, restaurants and right by the beach. Tour Operator: Cosmos
