Staff on reception at the Hotlel bel Azur not particularly friendly or helpful, very slow at sorting out problems. The door to one of our rooms would not lock, anyone could walk in and steal our belongings, and they didn't seem to think this was a problem! The problem was sorted out eventually. Constant harrassment (by the pool, on the beach, in the grounds) from entertainment staff wanting you to go on trips, play games, exercise, walk down the beach with them, or take them out for drinks or give them money! Entertainment in the evening very poor. Choice at breakfast could be much improved, fruit on offer in the evening often mouldy. Generally not a very welcoming atmosphere although staff in the dining room of an evening where much more jolly and welcoming. Beach area could be much improved only have to walk a short distance from the hotel and the beach looks really grubby and dirty.

We went to Hotel Bel Azur on our honeymoon. Reception staff could have been more polite and helpful. Rooms extremely basic. However we were lucky to have fantastic view of the beach. Breakfast was reasonable but dinners were not worth queuing for. In fact the food was tasteless and at times inedible. You will not find any decent food in Hammamet and believe me, we tried. Cascades was mentioned by our rep. the food there was only average. The only good points are the weather which was fab, and it is very cheap. Unfortunately we had money stolen from our hotel room when we reported this to management they took a very relaxed approach. I would never return to the Bel Azur again and I would recommend to anyone thinking of traveling to Hammamet to pick a five star hotel as standards are not like at home. (Ireland). Evening entertainment in the hotel was only suitable for early teens. We travelled with Panorama (i.e thomas cook, first choice) how they can highlight this hotel as highly recommended is beyond belief.

The Hotel Bel Azur should be closed down as it is a completely outdated, filthy hotel that has far to many honest tourists spending their hard earned money on staying there. The room was full of broken, filthy furniture with old and soiled bedding, only some of the lights worked when they fancied and the toilet drain covered the floor with brown water every time we flushed it. The whole experience was like a punishment and not at all relaxing as we had hoped. The waiters and bar staff were friendly and very hard working trying to make the most of this hotel from hell. However the animations (entertainment) team were only out to rob us and even offered to arrange prostitutes for us!! The hotel bar was full of working girls and this was watched by hotel management who seemed to think it was totally normal behaviour. This hotel is in our opinion not safe to stay at, particularly for families or females. This is a rancid hotel that shouldn't be allowed to trick people in to staying at it with outdated photos and reviews, you have been warned! This is quite simply one of the dirtiest, smelliest hotels you will ever have the misfortune of staying at.

I stayed in the Hotel Bel Azur, Hammamet, in July. The bedrooms and bathrooms were a little tired but clean and comfortable and spacious. I stayed before at the neighbouring Royal Azure which is next door which is a higher standard but also more expensive. Sol Azur is also next door and has a casino - all hotels share the same large gardens. I had a half board package at the Bel Asure and ate mostly in the hotel, the food was excellent with lots of choice. If you want a change from the buffet food there are some good restaurants nearby. Cascades is excellent and Azure is good for seafood. Tunisia was a French colony and as a result they love their food. The clientelle are quite international with quite a few Germans and French also there. Service was fairly good, but we were advised to keep valuables locked up. The resort of Hammamet is just 20 minutes away on foot and the Old Town (Medina) is worth a visit. For shopping, there is an excellent market every Friday at the nearbay town of Nabeul; a taxi costs about £4 each way.It is definately worth exploring outside the hotel as Tunisia is a facinating country. There are organised trips but you can always arrange them yourself. Loved my holiday to Hammamet but would ideally stay at the Royal Azur next time.
