Fatimi hotel is clean and presentable but signs of wear and tear is showing on the stairs and on the carpeted area. Our room was clean and the maid came every day to do our beds buts thatís about it no dusting! This part of Tunisia is very quite and very unspoilt so itís mainly based around the hotel and few shops out side the hotel. Donít expect to do a lot of excursions as Mahdia is just too far away from the main tourist parts except for EL JEM. We did go on one excursion to EL JEM which the 3rd largest Roman monument coliseum in the world. Took us one hour on the coach which we booked through the rep. Take plenty of bottle water as it gets extremely hot there. We were only there for the morning. There is a variety of choices of food at the restaurant which I can not fault, breakfast lunch and evening meals was varied day to day as we stayed all inclusive so we tried everything new each day! The snack bar near the pool area served hot and cold drinks from 10-5 and some food at lunch and at 3pm. The lobby bar also served hot and cold drinks from 10 until late. Get your bottle water from here for brushing your teeth and drinking!! Pool area was clean and we had the same lounges near the pool for the 2 weeks there. The pool area does get noisy with the animation team with loud music so if u want peace and quite then head to the beach which is amazing, clean and safe. There is also a beach bar near so you do not need to head back to the snack bar near the pool to get your drinks. As I mentioned a lot of the animation people did not speak fluently English so bare this in mind. There were a lot of Germans, Italian, Spanish and other Europeans but very few English at this hotel. Thomas cook rep Helena is polish and spoke other languages except English so communication was extremely difficult which was a shame for Thomas cook English holiday makers. We got a relaxing holiday for the 2 weeks in August this summer.
