I've been in Thapsus Hotel Club for 8 days, the general atmosphere was great, all the crew was friendly and helpful, they just make you feel as if you are at home, food spicy and delicious, rooms are clean and beds too, I enjoyed every day being there, night life in hotel was really showing talents of animators who tried all their best to bring smiles on faces, and they didn't forget kids too! I'm going back there soon because I liked it.

I've been in Thapsus Hotel Club this August 2008 and had a great time. If you are a spoiled tourist who wants 5-star treatment don't go in Thapsus. But if you want to have a great time, meet local people, their way of thinking and living you are in the right place! Rooms are big, nice and clean. Breakfast is always the same, but dinner is great with lot of European kitchen. The smell someone mentioned is a mix of humid air and their spices we are not habituated to, but it doesn't stink!!! Beach and water are just wonderful! They have a great animation team with programs for children and a show for adults, which will make you laugh and pass nice evening. It's completely safe in Mahdia! We were two girls and had no problems. Local people are very kind and friendly and will always try to talk with you, but if you don't want they will leave you alone. My advice is: give them a chance, because you could stay surprised how wonderful they are plus you could learn something common tourist does not know and it could prove very useful.

We stayed at the Thapsus Hotel Club for two weeks. What can I say, the beach is beautiful, nice swimming pools, too. However, the food was terrible and was served in the dirty, stinking restaurant. Everything there was dirty: forks, glasses, table cloths. The air conditioning in the rooms isn't really working, the rooms are dirty, mine had broken TV, stinking bed sheets etc. Animation team is ok, however their boss SHAKATA (as he calls himself) is really annoying. He always gave me bad looks, and when I finally told him to smile a little bit, he came up to me and said that it is his business if he smiles or not. From what I know he also terrorizes his employees. Not a nice person really.
Needs to have big changes in the restaurant as well as in the kitchen - Sjors. Date of travel: Sep 2007

If a funny animation team and the beautiful beach are the only thing you are looking for, you are in the right place. However, these are not enough for good holiday, right? The restaurant, food and some rooms are really bad!! I say some because we had to change room after 2 days of insisting complaints. Complaints: room's balcony door was not closing (ground floor = welcome for everyone outside), had a awful humid smell with no air conditioning (because hotel says temperature is cold enough, so we switched off all rooms) Did it change these conditions for new rooms? NO!! Only door could lock but this time we were in the 3rd floor anyway. If you are planning to book for all inclusive that is a waste of money because you will end up eating in a restaurant anyway. And if you want to have a bottle of wine or non-alcoholic inside the restaurant you have to pay!! Because all inclusive is only for glass not for bottle. If you are going for half pension, dinner is EXCLUDING drinks!! We are not really picky about the food but that was the worst food we have ever seen. We didn't even see couscous and tuna fish which are traditional foods for Tunisia and not even tasteful fruits for filling up for our stomach. If you are in Tunisia don't come back without doing the Sahara excursion. That was the best with food and everything. It cost 120 per person but it is worth it.
