Everything the previous reviewer said is true. I am English and didnt know places like this existed. We had bare live wires hanging out of the wall in our family room.T here was also an 8 inch hole in the floor under the carpet. The room was clean but very small. We had double bed and 2 singles but our friends had 3 singles pushed together and a z bed which was terrible. They had laminate flooring which could be lifted up.The carpet was hanging off the stairs and the fire exits blocked by rubbish. I complained to the foreign girl on reception and she said she didn't care. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID.It really is the biggest s*** hole I have ever been in.

I have stayed at the Ascot Hotel, 11 Craven Road in London, U.K. last weekend! It is located right near Paddington Station which is actually the only advantage! I am writing this review to warn other London tourists. This place is a complete rip off. When we arrived our room was not available even if we had a booking confirmation. We were sent to their sister hotel down the street. Usually something I do not have a problem with, things like that happen. Unfortunately we were given a room in the basement, we could not even see what the weather is like. The bathroom was tiny, maybe 1m x 1,50m. There was a tiny sink where you could not even wash your hand in without making a complete mess. When taking a shower the whole bathroom was wet including the whole floor and the toilet! One of the beds was ripped, the floor was filthy, the wallpaper ripped down. It was disgusting. When we complained at the reception we were told to talk to the hotel manager the next day. Unfortuntely the receptionist could not help to find a solution. We wanted to leave right away but all other hotels in the area were fully booked and it was almost midnight since we had a late flight into London. They charged my credit card right away! Brekfast was served in the Maxim's restaurant next door, there was food waste outside and there were even rats! An older lady who complained about this was thrown out of the hotel by the manager. The authorities should take care of this!!! The manager did not even listen to our complaint, he said he does not have time and we interfere with his work! It was ridiculous! First he was not willing to do anything about it until we told him we would not leave until he finds a solution. In the end he told us to leave his hotel as well but gave us a refund sheet to fill in after we said we would call the cops. Do yourself a favor and do not stay there!!! Do not book this hotel! You will have to spend half a day arguing with a nasty manager and looking for other accommodation. There are plenty of hotels in London, you do not have to stay there. I have travelled around the world, I have stayed in plenty of (budget) hotels, I have never experienced anything like this!!! I have also stayed at two different hostels in London before - both of them were much better than this so called hotel who rates itself with 3 stars on several websites. Besides, the pictures they post online are often not real, the place looks compltely different when you get there. We found a nice hotel in the end with great and friendly staff who would do anything to make the stay of their guests a good one. A hotel with comfortable and clean rooms! It was slightly more expensive but considering all the stress it is worth to pay a few extra pounds. I can only warn you...do not stay at the Ascot Hotel in 11 Craven Road! Tour Operator: n/a
