Vancouver
It is easy to explore the downtown core of Canada’s beautiful bustling city of Vancouver on foot, the west end having been designed as a compact pedestrianised area within the greater city. Backed by mountains, woven with green parks and fronted by the Pacific Ocean, which washes Vancouver Island across the Strait of Georgia andmore
Galiano Island is the perfect British Columbia Vacation - Helen Sanders. Date of travel: Sep 2006
You cannot visit Vancouver (British Columbia) without seeing some of the beautiful west coast scenery. And what better place to do it than the islands off the coast? It is so easy...just spend a few days in Vancouver, then take a ferry to the Gulf Islands. It is just an hour by public car and passenger ferry (the biggest and nicest ferry fleet in the world they told us), and you are at the closest (and prettiest) island: Galiano. It is incredibly beautiful...so green, the water so clear. We saw whales on our way there (and we saw them later, right from our room). We stayed at the Galiano Oceanfront Inn and Spa (which is "the" place to stay), and we were able to do absolutely everything on this little island: hike to the top of a mountain (an easy hike), tour the island by motorbike (rental; note there is no car hire on the island), beachcomb, swim in the ocean (not so warm, but refreshing) and on the way find a petroglyph, stroll through artist's gardens, kayak after sunset, picnic in the forest. We did not go fishing or golfing or sailing, but the opportunity was there. Everything a large resort would have, they have here: it is a beautiful place, very peaceful and rural...and so close to the mainland it is easy to visit for a day. But we think everyone should stay 5!

Hollywood North
Vancouver is that rare place - a place where one has all the conveniences of living in one of the world's most desirable cities, combined with the chilled out vibe of a west coast paradise. My first impressions of the place were that it is similar to my home town (Cape Town, SA) - mountains, sea, friendly people... but with a first world infrastructure. An easy to negotiate city, one quickly gets to know ones way around and the city's attractions are not just physical... the art gallery is interesting (esp the Emily Carr exhibit), the Museum of Anthropology is fascinating and definitely requires a return visit, and the dozens of smaller shops, galleries etc are worth a peep. It is not often when one travels to feel at home in ones destination, but that is how it was, but there was enough novelty to feed the imagination. This wont be my last trip by any means.... Vancouver - Andrew Smith. Date of travel: Feb 2005
Vancouver and British Columbia contains some of the most breathtaking scenery in the entire world, from Vancouver's ski hills to the massive Stanley park to shopping on Robson Street it has something for everyone. Whistler is just a short trip from Vancouver and is one of the most amazing places you can visit. Travel further east into the Rockies and the spectacular Lake louise and Banff national parks will take your breath away. All in all the most amazing place on earth. Tip: Greyhound buses prove to be a great mode of transport to those destinations further away.

Vancouver is the most amazing city on earth, where else can mountains fall straight into the ocean, skiing be found only 10 mins from the city centre, or a city park that is more like a forrest. Vancouver has it all, highly reccomended, and you will need 5 days or more to get around to do everything.

Vancouver was great - when it wasn't raining! Beautiful setting and fantastic lifestyle.
