Matagorda
The relaxing Lanzarote resort of Matagorda offers the best of both worlds, being a relatively serene option within easy reach (along a connecting promenade) of the bigger and more brash vacation station of Puerto del Carmen. A quiet holiday in Matagorda with its sloping beach popular for windsurfing can be interspersed with visits tomore
Nothing to do in Matagorda - Peter Asher. Date of travel: Apr 2010
The prominade all the way from Arricife up to and passed Matagorda is a good addition to the resort. Apart from that there is nothing other than the usual shops and bars plying fof buisness which can be annoying the beach is adequate.
Matagorda is a perfect holiday - Penny. Date of travel: Nov 2009
We went on holiday to Matagorda in Lanzarote and had the best holiday ever, with all the bars and restaurants there was never any need to travel elsewhere on the island, as everything is right here in the center, including spar for those who sometimes like to cook for themselves on odd night. Or handy if you have young children or would like to take a picnic to the beach. There is also a promenade which is about 16km long if you like to walk or cycle and is also near the airport so you can do some plane-spotting. The best bar is The Sportsman, it has a friendly athmosphere and a great pint and you can watch all the live sports on their many TVs. We are a young family and can't wait to go back and would recommend this holiday to all ages.
Great place - Matagorda - Lawrence Roberts. Date of travel: Aug 2009
The best of all worlds can be found in Matagorda. It's a quiet area, but you're only five minutes in a taxi from Peurto del Carmen. Some good bars and restaurants, best bar is The Sportsman, great for live sport on TV, good atmosphere and good quiz nights on a Mon, Wed and Fri. But there are some very good teams - especially Donecork. If they're there you'll do well to beat them. Great beach and great for plane-spotters.
Matagorda is nice - John Anderson. Date of travel: Jan 2009
Good range of pubs and restaurants in Matagorda, but they all still allow smoking. Good for plane spotters as it is at the end of the runway. Things are very expensive because of the exchange rate, around 6 in a small bar for a lager and a glass of wine.
Beautiful & Clean - Sarah McNeela. Date of travel: Apr 2008
We stayed here the last week in April - 1st week of May. The weather was lovely. The beach clean & sea clear. Everyone spolit our son in the shops & restaurants. Would return. Great place for families.
Peaceful Matagorda - Lang. Date of travel: Feb 2008
Matagorda is a lovely peaceful part of Lanzarote. this area has a long wide and flat walkway/promenade which runs from nearly the airport to Los Pocillos area and is ideal for disabled people, walkers and children as it is traffic free at places. Lovely restaurants locally.

Matagorda is a great place to stay if you want to rent a bike go to the flistons bikes in the shopping centre there is a great selection of things such as car bikes, segways, inline skates and much more.
Great for a relaxing holiday - W & M. Date of travel: Jun 2007
Quite a quiet area, but plenty of good bars and restaurants, right by the beach. If you want a livelier night it's only a short bus or cab ride (5 minutes) into PDC.
Matagorda - Andy Bostock. Date of travel: May 2007
Small village some 10 mins from airport. Only a couple of hotels and a few apartments. One medium sized shopping centre with a couple of small supermarkets and a dozen or so bars/restaurants. Other bars/shops/restaurants on beach front on way to PD Carmen. Very quiet and tranquil. Don't go here if you want to party, go to Carmen!
Great place to relax - Susan Wall. Date of travel: Apr 2007
Located within a 5-minute drive of the airport, Matagorda is really a suburb of Puerto del Carmen and is a great place to relax. There is a small shopping centre with plenty of bars and restaurants and also two supermarkets. A car is not necessary as everything is close at hand, 5 minutes from the busy resort of Puerto del Carmen by taxi where there is a host of shops bars etc.
