Things to do in Kas - Guy & Anna. Date of travel: Jun 2007
Kas is a great holiday destination. Here are a few tips: >>Visit Kaputas Beach which is on the way to Kalkan with regular dolmus (minibuses) going. It is one of the best beaches in Turkey. >>Walk up to the Castle above Kas and see the wonderful views over the Agean sea, the port and the old town. >> Take a boat trip from Kas to the sunken city of Kekova (what remains of a 5th century Lycian port which became submerged after an earthquake). You can swim above the ruins; the sea is very clear and warm. Remember to take a mask and snorkle. The boat trip also stops at Simena which is a facinating old town which looks over a lagoon. You can walk up to some ruins above the town and see old Lycian rock tombs and an old fort. Lovely views. >> Olympos is another interesting excursion for anyone interested in ancient sights - but it takes a full day to get there and back.
