Marmaris
A holiday in Marmaris, one of Turkey’s most frenetic resorts, can best be described as “cheap and cheerful”, with its bazaars offering fake designer goods along with the local crafts; touts competing to entice visitors into the wild pubs, clubs and variety of restaurants; while watersports and excursion operators tempt everyone to try anything andmore
Marmaris - Jean. Date of travel: Sep 2011
The visit to the mud baths and turtle beach by boat was so enjoyable. I felt so refreshed and relaxed. when visiting the markets be prepared to be hassled, saying no is met with more hassle and eventually in some cases negativity.

The bars by the harbour are expensive and after a few drinks you can lose track of what you have drank. Hence the bar bill is more than you expected and you have to take the staffs word for it.
Happy Days in Mamaras - Jill Galbraith and John Henry. Date of travel: May 2011
The hotel clean and it is entertaining, could do with a bit more Cabaret. The main shops are not to far and the beach is not more than ten minute walk. Swimming pools, all four are all clean and looked after. Games room great. Plenty of discos and nightlife not far away, always something to do there, in the hotel or just along the main road, plenty of pubs and clubs. Fun holiday in Mamaras, great place.
Boat trips - Mrs Norma Beard. Date of travel: Jun 2010
Just like to mention if you want to do a boat trip don't. If they are like the one we did. The boat was called Neptune, the cost was 40tl full day with lunch. Ok £20 not bad!! Our hotel was not in Marmaris 20mins away, Car was sent for us as we were told they didn't shouldn't have taken out booking too far out. Two of us so no bother, then he went to pick up a family at a near by hotel. So 5 in the back seat dad in the front 2 teenagers in the boot. Boat over crowed so if you had a seat in the sun you fry ed if you were in the shade you were cold. Then they bombard you with noise music so loud, any one who complained were given tissue to put in their ears. Sales all day long cold drinks ice creams rolls, one after the other. Lunch was a joke served at 11 30. Ok the day would have been good as the views were wonderful. On the way aback every one tired and hungry. No one wanted to pay their prices so decided to sleep, no way loud music again, to keep you awake and spending. Tip box was shouted for the last 10mins. They didn't get one from me. Then to top it all they said they couldn't take us back as the driver had been drinking. Picked on the wrong one here. Long story but we went back by taxi paid by the company. Have an enjoyable boat trip but take with you your own supply of drinks some food and ear plugs.
Club Candan Marmaris - Peter. Date of travel: May 2010

I love Marmaris - Kelly. Date of travel: Sep 2009
I love Marmaris. The people are so friendly, the shops are great and the bars are all really good. The down oint is that all the outside bars turn their music down around midnight due to the new law, so a little disappointing.
Would definitely go back to Marmaris - J. F.. Date of travel: Aug 2009
Marmaris - Baran karaoke dance bar was great. Then move on to the clubs later on. Was good fun.
Marmaris - Too commercial for our liking. - Cathy. Date of travel: Aug 2009
Marmaris has lots of places selling English breakfasts and fish and chips etc., which we did not want to see on a holiday to Turkey. Nice surrounding area though, and nearby Icmeler is a bit more unspoilt with sandier beaches.

Hot and busy Mamaris - H. Conway. Date of travel: Jul 2009
Mamaris has a busy town set in a beautiful setting with the marina. You can walk along the beachfront and there are lots of hotels, restaurants and bars. Away from the front there are countless shops selling loads of discount designer gear. You can haggle for the best price there. The Turks are very helpful but rather annoying, always hassling you to buy their goods. The Venus restaurant was our favourite. The service and food was great. These lads work very hard and long hours. Always had a smile on there face.
Marmaris best location in Mediterranean - Constantin Raicu. Date of travel: Jul 2009

Marmaris - Loved it - Gillian Cochrane. Date of travel: Jul 2009
Loved Marmaris. Was worried about it at the start when I heard people saying the shop keepers pester you. I must say, they are no different to Spain - if you shake your head or just say no they are fine. Loved every minute of it. My girls loved it too and the copies are great and very cheap. My husband got T-shirts for £10. Best time ever, can't wait to get back.

1st time to Marmaris, Turkey, and definitely would go back again. Plenty to do, enjoyed Baterin for cheap deals, all restaurants were very clean. Be prepared to be hassled by locals but they are very nice. Turtle Kareoke bar was brilliant, kept going back there.
I loved Marmaris - Porolto. Date of travel: Jun 2009
Marmaris good points - it's the best, hotel was brilliant and clean, nightlife wasn't far but we preferred to stay on the beach, only cost 10tl to Bar Street where the best clubs are. 2 good clubs with wicked tunes are Gallean and Backstreet, drink up before you get there, bit expensive.

Marmaris is a beautiful place to stay.
Love Marmaris altoghter - Amanda and Jessica. Date of travel: Aug 2008
Marmaris is brill! Some people have their ups and downs but I just love it. You meet great people across the locals or holiday makers everyone is nice a friendly. The food is cheap and the beer. I have been going there since I was 8years old twice a year. Never get fed up with it. The Rose and Crown is a good place to eat across from Balm Hotel. Nightlife is good on the beach for the young adults. And it's good for kids there's plenty form them to do and go to the water park Alantas if you like swimming and bathing. Not too keen on the beaches. At least it's better than our own beaches. ha ha. Turkey is for everyone to love and enjoy. You will feel like you're at home.
Marmaris is great! We are going back this year! - Mick. Date of travel: Aug 2008
Stayed at Antique Palace Apartments in Marmaris. Please do not expect a palace - this is basic hotel with minor faults. You will pay for your air con when you get there and each unit will cost you 25 to 50 Euro. It is worth the money if you are there in August. We did not eat at the hotel as it was more money. We walked around the corner where a good English costs 99p, turn left then left walk up to the Red Rose for night time meal - was great service & food. Please do not use taxi as they eat up your money. Use local buses 1 half Euro gets you anywhere really. As for the shops for clothes not worth it when you weigh it all up. The kids all insisted on top trainer well they got, then walk outside for a break and the trainer fell apart. Jeans from shops are good, the kids still have them now stick to the shops please do not expect to barter too much as they are not up for it anymore. Just a little is fine. Boat trips: well you have to use your loaf a bit here as they do not want to leave port with half full boat. Me the wife and 3 kids got on all baot trips for £10 each for the adults and kids went free, that's free drinks and food which is good money when you consider if you go on one of theses boats & you have to pay for your drinks then it will cost you £70 upwards as they hold you to ransom. Get the best deals just pay for the adults and even if you pay £5 each for the kids then you have a great deals with free food and drinks all day good day out. As for the Turtle Beach trip - you won't see one if you blink too much.

Marmaris - Hayden Family. Date of travel: Jul 2008
Right next door to the Club Cettia aparments, is a lovely restaurant called the Castle where you can sit under the grape vines and enjoy your meal. The staff are very welcoming, there is a great choice of food at very reasonable prices (both Turkish and English) and children are well catered for. The Castle also does a full English breakfast.
Marmaris - The Waltons. Date of travel: Jul 2008
Just spent two great weeks in Marmaris staying All Inclusive at the Pineta Park Delux Hotel. Fantastic !!! Plenty to do on an evening. Loads of bars and plenty of shops/gift shops. Local public transport is very good value for money 1.5 Lira to Marina or 2 Lira to the next resort. Crazy Corner bar and restaurant is well worth a visit.
Marmaris resort - Nicole Hunter. Date of travel: Jul 2008
Marmaris is fantastic, a shoppers heaven, be prepared to haggle. Will definitely be going again, the hottest place I have ever been to in all my years of holidaying abroad. A clean, busy and friendly place, where I felt safe. The local brew is quite nice too.
Marmaris has outpriced itself - Sue & Ron Bentley. Date of travel: Jun 2008
We have been going to Marmaris for 12yrs. So I think that what I have to say is from experience. We have been 30 times. This year everything has got very expensive. Drinks on the beach Sprite small glass 3ytl 5o each so for 2 of us 280ytl that is £121 for 2 drinks of Sprite each. The food was also expensive for what the holiday cost us for hotel drinks non alcohol & food it would have been cheaper to go AI in Caribbean. Everyone we spoke to said the same, new & old visitors. The full English breakfast at Venus restaurant at the Maris beach is very good & only 5ytl90. We used not be able to spend our money but this year £900 & nothing to take home & we didn't buy any goodies.
