Baku Climate and Weather
Baku has a cold semi-arid climate with hot, dry summers and cool winters. It's located in one of the driest parts of Azerbaijan, and the city usually receives between 8 and 12 inches of rain a year (200 to 300mm). Most of this falls in winter, although rainfall is still fairly low throughout the season.
The city is famous for its strong winds, which is why it's often called the 'City of Winds'. These winds can make winter weather feel harsher and can occasionally lead to short-lived snowstorms.
Summer temperatures often rise into the mid-80s °F (around 29 to 30°C), and the cooler Khazri wind can bring welcome relief. In winter, average lows are around 39°F (4°C), and coastal areas sometimes slip below freezing during cold spells.
