Cairns Climate and Weather
Cairns has a tropical monsoon climate with two main seasons rather than four. Temperatures are warm to hot throughout the year, but the wetter period runs from November to April and can bring heavy rainfall and occasional tropical cyclones. From about June to October, the weather is drier and more settled, often with blue skies, sunshine and gentle breezes. While nights in June and July can feel cooler than in summer, true cold snaps are rare.
