Getting Around

Kyiv boasts a well-developed transport network, featuring buses, trams, trolleybuses and a metro system, which is still the fastest way to traverse the city, especially during rush hour.

Marshrutkas, privately operated minibuses, can be flagged down anywhere and often display key stops on their windows. They're quicker than larger buses, though cash fares and onboard payment are the norm.

Taxis can be booked in advance, hailed on the street, or found via ride-hailing apps such as Uber, Bolt and Uklon. When using non-metered private cars, passengers should always agree on a fare before starting their journey.

For a unique experience and spectacular city and river views, visitors should ride the Kyiv Funicular up the steep right bank. It's inexpensive quick and links Podil with the historic Upper Town.
