Orlando Travel Guide

Widely thought of as the theme park capital of the United States, no place celebrates childhood quite like Orlando. Walt Disney World is the biggest draw in this ever-popular, never-never land, but other kid-friendly sites such as Epcot and Universal Islands of Adventure are first rate, too. Throw in excellent food, shopping and outdoor activities, and there's little wonder why over 75 million travellers choose to holiday in the city every year.

Most visitors begin their stay with a trip to Orlando's theme parks, which are an absolute must for families and honeymooners. Universal Orlando Resort, where the star attraction is the marvellous Wizarding World of Harry Potter, is generally a priority, but the young and young at heart should look into the others as well. These include LEGOLAND and its fun-filled, interactive brick-building experiences, and Fun Spot America, which has two of the tallest skycoasters in the world.

Orlando's appeal extends far beyond year-round sunny skies and magical theme parks, though. Visitors will discover that its food scene is as diverse as its rides, as there are many tremendous restaurants, local eateries and food festivals to choose from. Shoppers will find everything from upscale malls and unique boutiques to outlets.

Travellers who enjoy the outdoors can, among other things, enjoy kayaking the clear springs of Wekiwa State Park, biking along West Orange Trail, or taking thrilling airboat rides in the Everglades. It's also worth picnicking beneath a palm tree at Lake Eola Park.
