Climate in Jordan

July and August are the hottest and driest months of the year, particularly in Amman, the Jordan Valley, and desert areas, where temperatures often exceed 97°F (36°C), and can reach over 104°F (40°C) in the south. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the most pleasant times to visit, with clear, sunny days and moderate temperatures.

The winter months from December to March can be surprisingly cold, especially in Amman, where there may be rain, wind, and occasional snowfall. In contrast, the desert regions and the southern coastal city of Aqaba receive little rainfall during winter, making Aqaba a popular wintertime destination with mild, sunny weather.

Approximately 75 percent of the country experiences a desert climate, characterised by low annual rainfall and dramatic temperature shifts between day and night.
