Climate in Libya
The Libyan Desert is one of the harshest and driest deserts in the world, with some areas experiencing decades without rain. This arid interior contrasts with the Mediterranean climate along the northern coast, where summers are hot and dry, and winters are cooler with occasional rainfall. The desert itself is hot during the day and cold at night. In spring and autumn, the Ghibli (a hot desert wind) can last several days and raise temperatures, particularly inland. Coastal temperatures generally range between 68°F (20°C) and 86°F (30°C) during these seasons. Spring and autumn are considered the best times to visit Libya, offering more comfortable weather, especially along the coast.
