Climate in Queensland
Straddling the Tropic of Capricorn, Queensland stretches across several climate zones, from the tropical north to the subtropical southeast and the dry inland plains. From November to March, humidity is high throughout much of the state, although coastal areas benefit from cooling sea breezes. Brisbane, in the south, has hot, humid summers and mild, sunny winters with pleasantly cool nights in July and August.
In the tropical north, the most comfortable time to visit is during the dry season from June to October, when the days are warm, the humidity is lower and rainfall is minimal. November marks the beginning of the build-up to the wet season, and tropical cyclones can affect the region between November and April, with the highest likelihood from January to March.
