Getting Around
Brisbane's public transport network is run by TransLink and includes buses, trains and ferries. Buses reach most parts of the city, but visitors should remember to signal the driver to stop. Two free bus routes are especially handy for sightseeing: the City Loop, which circles the CBD, and the Spring Hill Loop, which connects the city centre with the nearby hill district.
Trains are fast and comfortable, linking the city with its suburbs, while the CityCat ferries glide along the Brisbane River and are a favourite with visitors for their great views. All public transport uses the same ticketing system, based on travel zones, and day or visitor passes make it easy to hop between different services.
Brisbane is also a bike-friendly city with plenty of cycle paths, and bikes are allowed on most trains and ferries outside peak hours. Taxis and rideshares are easy to find in the city centre and around major hotels. Driving can be a bit confusing due to one-way streets, but parking stations are available downtown.
