Getting Around
Sydney has an extensive network of trains, buses and ferries, making it easy to travel around the city and nearby districts. Buses cover the widest area and are generally the cheapest option, although they can be slow during peak periods. Trains are the fastest way to move between major hubs, and ferries from Circular Quay provide a scenic route to places such as Manly, Taronga Zoo and the harbour suburbs. The city also has a growing light rail network linking the centre with Darling Harbour, Pyrmont, Surry Hills and Randwick. Metered taxis are plentiful, and rideshare services such as Uber, DiDi and Ola are widely available. Hiring a car is not recommended for central Sydney due to congestion and limited parking.
