Tehran Climate and Weather
Tehran has a cold semi-arid climate, with hot summers and cold winters. The city lies between the Alborz Mountains to the north and desert to the south, causing varied temperatures by elevation. Summers (June to August) are hot and dry, with average highs around 93°F (34°C) and peaks near 104°F (40°C), and very little rain. Winters (December-February) are cold, with lows often below freezing and highs averaging 46 to 54°F (8 to 12°C); snowfall is common, especially in the north. Most of the city's annual 16 to 17 inches (420 to 430 mm) of rainfall occurs during spring and autumn. Evenings are typically cooler and humidity remains low.
