Townsville is a laid-back city with a magnetic charm, golden sandy beaches, and a wealth of attractions. Often called the unofficial capital of North Queensland, it sits on the shores of Cleveland Bay, offering stunning views of the picturesque Magnetic Island just offshore. With its relaxed atmosphere and natural beauty, it's easy to see why so many people are drawn to this coastal gem.

The city also played an important role during World War II, serving as a base for American and Australian troops in the Pacific campaign. Japanese aircraft even dropped bombs in the harbour in 1942, though fortunately there was little damage. Today, Townsville attracts both domestic and international visitors, drawn by its warm climate and diverse attractions.

Adventurers can take a trip to Magnetic Island to explore the National Park or dive at the world-famous Yongala Wreck or the Great Barrier Reef to the east.
