Summers are warm and humid, with December typically the hottest month and daytime highs around 88°F (31°C). Winter days are mild, with July averages around 77°F (25°C) and nighttime lows of 50 to 55°F (10 to 13°C). The region is also prone to tropical cyclones during the wet season, especially over the Coral Sea.
