Climate in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan's climate varies widely due to its mountainous landscape. In the lowland areas, such as Bishkek and the Chüy Valley, the climate is generally temperate and dry, with winter temperatures averaging around 21°F (-6°C) and summer highs near 75°F (24°C). The south-western Ferghana Valley is warmer, with hot summers and a more subtropical feel. Higher mountain regions are cooler, with average summer temperatures around 54°F (12°C) and winter lows that can fall to -22°F (-30°C) or below. In some remote areas, colder extremes have been recorded. Snow is common in winter, especially in the mountains, where it can last for months. In lower valleys, snowfall is usually lighter and tends to melt more quickly.
